A true full permaculture operation, an organic cacao farm, a tranquil vacation space, a public front-end discovery centre, tour and hiking trail operations, and an ongoing work-exchange volunteer learning program.
Global Creek @ Mango Walk is at it's foundation a sustainable living centre and permaculture farm. All of our activities and operations, both in facilitating all of our services and in our own day-to-day living, are carried out with the utmost respect for the environment and all the life around us and with every effort made to achieve a net positive-gain, minimum 'zero-footprint' impact on our surroundings. This lifestyle and approach is supported by our active on-the-ground permaculture operation, working with the land and the natural surroundings to sustainably farm a variety of fruits, vegetables, herbs and medicinal plants throughout our land.
A core permaculture and on-the-grounds operation is the restoration of the cacao farm which was once producing on this land and its stewardship and husbandry through purely organic and earth-friendly means. Our daily objectives will be two-folded: To maintain a best-practices maximum-efficiency organic permaculture cacao operation, and complementing this; to further research, experimentation and learning in the realm of natural/organic means to combat the cacao blight. Our own cacao is used to produce special-reserve gourmet truffles, served during our Organic Chocolate and Wine Tours.
Our Discovery Centre will be a visitor's learning/education/exploration centre for the public to come and learn about sustainable living, permaculture, organic products, local fauna and flora, natural areas stewardship and also about coffee, chocolate and other locally-harvested and produced food products. This centre will feature a learning resources area where visitors may browse through various learning resources (such as printed information, pamphlets/brochures, posters, guides, books, as well as media information available to peruse or purchase) and take the time to sit down and read, discuss or take-in more of all that this centre has to offer, including the stunning sea views. This will be facilitated by the Discovery Centre's organic coffee & chocolate lounge which will be serving all-organic coffee, chocolates, fruit juices, fresh creative snacks and deserts to provide some unique exquisite local taste sensations.
Visitors may come to see us for our Discovery Centre, to tour our organic cacao farm, to take a tour of our entire permaculture operation, or to hike through the magnificent jungle and natural spaces surrounding us. A small network of trails is being carefully established and marked throughout the property to allow visitors to most sensitively observe and interact with all the beauty around us. With guided tours and printed guidebooks available for this varying level and intensity marked trail network, we aim to be the area's leading jungle trail hiking destination. And this is in addition to being the nearest chocolate/cacao operation providing the closest farm and organic production experience to Puerto Viejo.
Supporting and adding to all of our operations is a full-time work-exchange volunteer learning program. Up to 8 regular work-exchange individuals at a time come to learn all about their given area of interest and in exchange support the varying facets of our day-to-day operations, including our grounds permaculture operations and our visitor/tour facilitating. Volunteers join us to experience a real learning adventure, a true information and work-exchange, while affording themselves a tranquil sustainable vacation experience.
This similar tranquil and sustainable vacation experience, for anyone interested in observing or taking-part in our operations and staying in our beautiful well-appointed space, is available to any through various open accommodation options as well. The property features one dedicated full apartment rental, a comfortable and cozy space with all private amenities right next to our volunteer and visitor house allowing guests to have a completely personal stay and still integrate with our daily activities as they wish. There will also be tenting sites and camping options available for those seeking a simpler stay more in nature, and in the future the construction of private 'jungle huts' and potentially hammock or other shared accommodation space to provide a greater variety of stay options for the public to come and experience Global Creek @ Mango Walk.
